When Fairyloot announced that they would include an item inspired by The Raven Cycle in their October Young Adult box, I was immediately very excited. Read on to find out more about the box and its items, and books.
About Fairyloot
Fairyloot is one of the best known UK book boxes that ship internationally. They offer two types of subscription plans: Young Adult (book box with goodies or book-only) and Adult (book-only). In most cases, their featured books are fantasy books. Next to their monthly subscription, they also have special edition boxes and exclusive editions.
The teaser
This is the info we received upfront:
- Adult book
- Box will feature a paperback book
An adult book in the Young Adult Box 😮 Fairyloot is certainly mixing things up this month (check out the unexpected choice for the Adult book box here).
The goodies
As I mentioned, I was particularly looking forward to the Raven Cycle item, which happened to be the item at the top of the box. It’s a pair of socks, featuring the magical forest Cabeswater. I love them! This pair was designed by No0neDesigns. If you want to know more about this amazing series, check out my spoiler-free series review!
I was less enthusiastic by the second item, unfortunately, which was a canvas basket designed by Blanca.design and inspired by Once Upon a Broken Heart. The basket is meant to store your monthly TBR, but that’s never going to work for me as I am more of a mood reader.
Luckily, Fairyloot added an art print, which is one of my favourite types of goodies <3 This particular one was created by Gracezhuart and depicts a scene from Howl’s Moving Castle. I love the foil details!
Last but certainly not least, the box contained the next set of tarot cards, illustrated by Arz28. This set features Rowan and Citra from Arc of a Scythe as The Judgement and Temperance. I wasn’t a big fan of the first book in the series (my review), but I have to say these cards are beautiful!
The books
The main featured book is One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig, which is a “gothic fantasy set in a mist-locked kingdom with a tarot inspired magic system”. The Fairyloot edition has an exclusive hardcover edition, sprayed edges, a reversible dust jacket, artwork printed on the hardcover, artwork on the endpapers and will come with a letter from the author.
The box also contained a paperback book, namely Princess of Souls by Alexandra Christo. This story is described as “a Rapunzel-inspired romantic fantasy”. The Fairyloot edition has a completely redesigned cover, sprayed edges, and a digital signature.
