Unboxing: Fairyloot YA November – “The Witching Hour”

A bit later than usual, but today I will share my unboxing of the November Young Adult book box by Fairyloot!

About Fairyloot

Fairyloot is one of the best known UK book boxes that ship internationally. They offer two types of subscription plans: Young Adult (book box with goodies or book-only) and Adult (book-only). In most cases, their featured books are fantasy books. Next to their monthly subscription, they also have special edition boxes and exclusive editions.

The teaser

This is the info we received upfront:

  • Standalone
  • Witchy epic fantasy with romance
  • F/F and M/M romance
  • The box will contain a ceramic mug, a reading journal, and the next collectible letter opener

This box is dedicated to the witches that take magic into their own hands and use it to alter their destiny.

The goodies

The first item I found was a ceramic mug, with art by AVENDELL, and inspired by Kingdom of the Wicked. This mug is foiled, but although it is very beautiful, there seem to be multiple imperfections in the foiling, which diminish the overall look quite a bit. It’s a pity, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of this book series anyway (my review of book one), so I am not going to be too depressed about it.

Next, I found a gorgeous book review notebook. Its witchy theme fits perfectly within this box, and the colour is a perfect match with the foil details on the cover. I will most definitely be using this one! It was designed  by Chattynora.

Next, I discovered a letter opener, inspired by Serpent & Dove (my review), with art by Jezhawk. Personally, I am not a fan. Not because it’s not a beautiful item, but because I have no use for it and these letter openers are so difficult to sell on the second hand market due to selling restrictions.

Last but not least, the box also contained a fandom-neutral enamel pin, shaped like a spell book and designed by No0neDesigns.

Next to these items, Fairyloot also included two new tarot cards, this set inspired by The Stardust Thief and as always designed by Arz28. This set consists of The Star (depicting Loulie) and The Tower (depicting Mazen). These will forever be my favourite part of any subscription box <3

The book

The featured book of the month is The Ones We Burn by Rebecca Mix. It’s the tale of a young blood-witch and her mission to assassinate her royal fiancé, and who accidentally ends up falling in love with his sister.

The Fairyloot edition has an exclusive cover, ombre sprayed edges, a reversible dust jacket, artwork on the endpapers, foil on the hardcover, and comes with an author letter.
