Unboxing: Tiny Tree Trunk November 2021 – “Spinning Gold”

It’s time for another unboxing! This time, we’ll discuss the Tiny Tree Trunk November 2021 box, called “Spinning Gold”. Seeing that their previous box hit the mark (as usual, check my unboxing here), I was very excited when I found this one on my doorstep!

About Tiny Tree Trunk

Tiny Tree Trunk is an online company specialising in book boxes for children and young adults, as well as special occasion boxes (e.g. a box for Mother’s Day, a Fall box). There are multiple boxes available each month, as well as a Dutch and an English yearly subscription. What’s special about these boxes is that some (i.e. the specials) allow buyers to select a book themselves up to a maximum amount. Like that, you can personalise a box as a gift to someone, for example.  For the boxes with a fixed book, you can either choose to be surprised, or scroll down to the bottom of the page to already discover which book will be included.

The teaser

This is the info we received upfront:

  • Young Adult
  • Hardcover
  • Retelling of Rumpelstiltskin
  • Well-known author with experience in fairytale retellings

“An atmospheric reimagining of Rumpelstiltskin set in Germany, an enchanting gothic fairytale world firmly rooted in the nightmare horror end of the genre.”

For once, I was actually able to guess the book!

The goodies

All the goodies in this box were inspired by objects, themes, or quotations from the featured book. My favourite ones were two postcard sized prints and an A5 notebook with fanart of Serilda (by Makenzie Hooks). Absolutely loved them. Art prints are my favourite type of goodies (although I prefer A5 size and not postcards) and the notebook will make a good reading journal.

Next, I discovered a cute little star-shaped “Galaxy” soap by Ivy Gift Soaps. Smells delicious. Unfortunately, I’m highly allergic to solid soaps, so I was super pleased that the soap was wrapped even within the gift bag it came in. Which is, by the way, the prettiest little gift bag I have EVER seen.

The box also included a golden bookmark and an ornament, both with quotations from the book, created by Tiny Tree Trunk. Very pretty items.

And finally, there were some stamps with a fairytale theme as well as a small standing calendar. I ADORED the stamps, seeing that I’ve always collected them. Both items were illustrated by BlackSpring.

The book

The featured book was a hardcover edition of Gilded by Marissa Meyer. As the hints already announced, this is a retelling of the classic fairytale Rumpelstiltskin. I’m looking forward to reading this one, as I’ve always been fond of the character <3

Once again, a very nice and coherent box!
