You might recall my recent unboxing of the De Boekenbuit Autumn box, which contained a delightful first edition of Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff. I didn’t have to wait long for the next box, because soon after, my September “Unlikely Ally” box arrived!
About De Boekenbuit
De Boekenbuit is a Dutch online company offering different types of book boxes. Each month, they offer 1 English and 1 Dutch box. One of them is always Young Adult, the other genre can differ. Next to these, De Boekenbuit offers seasonal boxes and specials (e.g. for Halloween, Valentine’s Day). The goodies are fitted to suit the theme, but there are multiple book options to choose from in these seasonal and special boxes.
The teaser
I have to admit that I failed to write down all the hints for this month. All I can recall is that it contained “The Hunt begins. But are they the hunters or the hunted?” and that I picked the English YA Fantasy box. I’m slowly getting smarter: I’m taking screenshots of hints now :p
But, once again, I was not able to guess the book!
The goodies
The first goodie I discovered was a bag of tea with the cover of Beasts of Prey on it. According to the spoiler card, this tea contains blackberry, strawberry, raspberry, fennel, anise, sun flower petals, and marigold. Not surprisingly, I can mainly smell the fennel and anise through the package. Looking forward to discovering this original mix!
Next, I found a candle made by Ever After Candle, inspired by Lou from Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin (my review), with cinnamon, vanilla and “magic” fragrance, and a beautiful art print from the same fandom, made by Isabella Smith.
Last but not least, I found a cute little bracelet with a snake charm, made by De Boekenbuit itself.
I never noticed that there are snakes on the cover of Beasts of Prey as well until I started looking for the theme of the box :p oops. Once again, a very good theme coordinated box. I love it! Snakes <3 <3 <3
The book
Somehow, I still wasn’t sure which book it would be after having seen all the goodies. I know. I’m a bit slow. Like with the Autumn box, I already owned a copy of Beasts of Prey by Ayana Gray, namely the Fairyloot one. However, this hard cover edition is very beautiful! The greenish sprayed edges match perfectly with the colour of the leaves on the cover, but especially with the golden maps and cover flaps on the inside. I have high hopes for this story, so I’m delighted to have a hard cover edition now (much more easy to read than the paperback I had).
Once again a great book box! 😀 😀 I cannot wait to receive the next one!
