Unboxing: De Boekenbuit Autumn 2021 – “Falling Leaves”

After the great success of the “Queen Bee” Box (unboxing), I was super excited to find the Autumn box “Falling Leaves” of De Boekenbuit in my mailbox!

About De Boekenbuit

De Boekenbuit is a Dutch online company offering different types of book boxes. Each month, they offer 1 English and 1 Dutch box. One of them is always Young Adult, the other genre can differ. Next to these, De Boekenbuit offers seasonal boxes and specials (e.g. for Halloween, Valentine’s Day). The goodies are fitted to suit the theme, but there are multiple book options to choose from in these seasonal and special boxes.

The teaser

This is the first of the seasonal boxes from De Boekenbuit that I ordered. The goodies were all selected to match the Autumn theme, but there were different books that you could select (based on a combination of genre and hints):

  • Book 1: YA Thriller
  • Book 2: Thriller
  • Book 3: Historical Romance
  • Book 4: English Fantasy
  • Book 5: YA Fantasy

As you might expect, I picked the English Fantasy one. It came with the following hints:

  • Creatures of the night
  • Legendary battles and forbidden loves
  • The Holy Grail

Now that I’ve seen the book, I feel so stupid but I seriously didn’t guess the title when ordering. Ooops? I bet you did 🙂

The goodies

You might recall from my previous unboxing of a De Boekenbuit box that I was seriously impressed about the coherence between the goodies, the book, the wrapping paper etc. and I was wondering if that was a one-off or if they would succeed in doing that again. I’m happy to report that they once again succeeded with this box! One word: beautiful!

The first goodie took me by surprise: a book with seasonal baking recipes by Laura’s Bakery. I had not expected such a big goodie seeing that most book box goodies are way smaller. With Halloween so close, I look forward to trying out some of them! I have a baking challenge to win at work, so any help is more than welcome 😉 (Disclaimer: I have no baking or cooking talent whatsoever).

Next, I discovered a silicone chocolate mould to create tiny chocolate leaves and a lovely, autumn themed apron.

There was also once again some beautiful artwork included, depicting “Tiny Witch Autumn”. This art was created by Letters & Lights.

And finally, Blooming Fragrances fragrance sticks (Amber & Ginger Lily).

The book

As I mentioned before, I hadn’t expected the book to be Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff. I was initially a bit disappointed because I already own the Waterstone Exclusive Edition. However, that feeling was soon replaced by delight. This is the signed first edition and it’s totally different from the edition I already owned. I loved comparing them, and, as I have high hopes for this story, I don’t mind having multiple editions at all <3

Once again a great book box! 😀 😀 I cannot wait to receive the next one!

Curious to discover which other books I could have had in the other Falling Leaves combinations?
