Unboxing: Fairyloot YA June 2022 – “Chosen Ones”

Two weeks ago, I unboxed the June 2022 Adult box by Fairyloot. Today, it’s time to discuss the June 2022 Young Adult box!

About Fairyloot

Fairyloot is one of the best known UK book boxes that ship internationally. They offer two types of subscription plans: Young Adult (book box with goodies or book-only) and Adult (book-only). In most cases, their featured books are fantasy books. Next to their monthly subscription, they also have special edition boxes and exclusive editions.

The teaser

This is the info we received upfront:

  • This box is dedicated to the characters that are chosen to defy the odds and rise up against them!
  • Will contain an additional rom-com paperback!
  • The featured book is a swoon-worthy romantic comedy set in an Italian inspired fantasy world.

The goodies

The first item I spotted was another trinket dish from the Fairyloot “displayable trinket dishes” collection. This one features Rin, one of the characters of The Poppy war, and the illustrations were made by Arz28.

Next, I found a very nice book sleeve, inspired by The Atlas Six and designed by Chatty Nora. It’s plastic, so I suppose it’s waterproof, which is delightful. I take books with me on my daily commute and I always worry when it rains so this will come in very handy!

The box also contained paper tabs inspired by Sting, the short sword famously used in Lord of the Rings (designed by Jezhawk). They are a bit too small to be useful for me, so I’ll be looking to sell them (or more likely, give them away).

My favourite items were the art print depicting Adelina from The Young Elites (art by Damian.in.the.den) and the monthly tarot cards. This month, the set was inspired by From Blood and Ash.

The book

The featured book is This Vicious Grace by Emily Thiede. It’s set in a world where a young girl’s gift can either save…or kill. Sounds great, doesn’t it? The Fairyloot edition has an exclusive cover, stencil sprayed edges, foil on the hardcover, artwork on the endpapers, and is signed by the author. It also came with a letter from the author.

The second book featured is Twin Crowns by Catherine Doyle and Katherine Webber. This lovely paperback tells the story of two twins: one of them a crown princess, the other a witchy rebel. I’m currently reading this one and I have to say, I’m loving it so far! The Fairyloot edition has a redesigned cover, digitally sprayed edges, and a digital signature of both authors.
